Summary: This easy going bike tour will have you cruising down the Legacy Trail, a converted rail line and important regional recreational corridor. The paved trail connects the urban parks and waterways of Venice and Osprey and brings you surprisingly close to wildlife and diverse habitats. Enjoy a leisurely 5-mile ride to Oscar Scherer State Park, where you’ll take a ranger-led hike to explore the park’s unusual flora and fauna, including the imperiled Florida Scrub Jay, found only in Florida. Learn the challenges of maintaining a healthy habitat for the scrub jay in the middle of a highly urbanized area. Cool off in the park’s swimming lake and air-conditioned Visitor Center before pedaling the Legacy Trail back to Venice. This experience best suited for ages 8 and up.
