You Have Questions

we have answers
How do I make a reservation?

Book your ecotour in four easy steps: 1) select your ecotour and number of guests, 2) provide billing and guest information, 3) agree to our Tour Service Contract, and 4) pay securely via credit card.  We ask you to alert us to any medical conditions that might impact your participation. By getting to know you in advance, we can ensure the tour is right for you so we can deliver our high standard of service and safety. Before your trip, we will also ask you to sign our Liability Waiver.

What is your refund policy?

If you cancel at least 7 days from the start of the tour, we will issue a refund.  If you cancel less than 7 days from the start of the tour, we cannot issue a refund unless we fill your spot. All cancellations must be received in writing via email, fax or US mail. We would hate to see you cancel, but if you do we cannot be responsible for any expenses that you may incur as a result.

If your tour is cancelled due to unexpected and extreme circumstances beyond our control, we will issue you a refund minus any portion already paid to and unrecoverable from our suppliers.  If your tour is otherwise cancelled, we will provide you no less than 7 days notice and issue you a full refund. The refund shall constitute full settlement with you.  We are not responsible for any additional direct or indirect expenses that you may incur as a result of a cancelled or interrupted tour including cost of travel, time, or inconvenience.

What if it rains?
Florida owes its lush foliage and colorful flowers to the sub-tropical weather, which includes lots of sunshine and periodic rain showers.  It’s just part of living in Florida. Unless the weather creates dangerous conditions, be prepared for your adventure rain or shine.   Refer to the packing list on each ecotour itinerary page for gear and clothing suggestions. Bring clothing that is both quick to dry and provides protection from the sun.  In the event of inclement weather, our experienced guides exercise caution and common sense to keep you safe and as comfortable as possible, reorganizing or changing the itinerary as necessary.
Are these ecotours okay for kids?

Some people want to get away; some people want family-time.  We get it.  The physical and educational aspects of our ecotours are designed for adults and mature kids age 8 and older.   If you are traveling as a family with young children, consider getting another family you know to join you, and let us create a custom itinerary to accommodate your family’s activity level and interests. Contact us to discuss dates and itineraries.

Can we reserve a private tour?
Yes, we would be happy to work with you to set up a tour date reserved just for you and your group.  Pricing will depend on number of guests and desired itinerary. Contact us!
Can you accommodate my special diet?
In most cases, yes.  The chefs of our carefully selected restaurants and caterers who provide our wonderfully fresh local menus can plan for common requests, such as vegetarian or kosher.  Be sure to let us know of any food allergies or important dietary restrictions you may have when you fill out your guest questionnaire.
How do I know if I'm physically fit for this adventure?

To fully enjoy the outdoor activities of these tours, a basic level of fitness, endurance and balance is necessary.  Don’t worry, you don’t need to be an athlete or fitness guru, just reasonably fit.  Furthermore, this is not a race – it’s a fun, educational, mind-blowing adventure!  We’ll take the time to look around and enjoy it. For an easy-going day of outdoor adventure, choose our Sarasota Bay Cruise. The various ecotours include biking, hiking, canoeing or kayaking, boating and primitive camping.  You must be able to step into and out of a canoe or kayak and paddle for several hours, step from a dock onto the deck of a small boat, bicycle at 10 mph for an hour, and walk 2 miles on uneven trails.  If you are unsure, you might consider testing yourself by going on a half-day excursion at home. Be sure to let us know of any relevant physical conditions you may have when you fill out your guest questionnaire. We reserve the right to decline a reservation for guests we believe we will be unable to accommodate.

How do I make a reservation? Contact us to discuss your interests!  We’ll ask about your group size, ages, abilities, interests and preferred dates.  By getting to know you in advance, we can ensure the tour is right for you so we can deliver our high standard of service and safety. We require a 25% deposit paid by credit card over the phone or check in US Dollars mailed to our office.  Once we receive your deposit, we will ask you to fill out a confidential guest questionnaire, including any physical or dietary limitations. We will also request you return a signed copy of our Travel Service Contract for each guest. The remaining balance is due for all members of your party no later than 30 days prior to your scheduled tour date. If your reservation is made within 30 days of the departure date, full payment is required at time of reservation.

What is your refund policy? If you cancel at least 30 days from the start of the tour, we will issue a refund minus the nonrefundable deposit.  If you cancel less than 30 days from the start of the tour, we cannot issue a refund. All cancellations must be received in writing via email, fax or US mail. We would hate to see you cancel, but if you do we cannot be responsible for any expenses that you may incur as a result of cancelled or interrupted travel due to travel delays, flight cancellations, sickness, injury, personal emergencies or any other reason.  The purchase of travel insurance that covers trip cancellation and interruption is recommended.

If your tour is cancelled due to unexpected and extreme circumstances beyond our control, we will issue you a refund minus any portion already paid to and unrecoverable from our suppliers.  If your tour is otherwise cancelled, we will provide you no less than 30 days notice and issue you a full refund. The refund shall constitute full settlement with you.  We are not responsible for any additional direct or indirect expenses that you may incur as a result of a cancelled or interrupted tour including cost of travel, time, or inconvenience.

Do I need travel insurance? It’s a relatively small expense, but affords peace of mind, especially for guests traveling from overseas. A comprehensive travel insurance policy can cover expenses for treatment of illness or injury, medical evacuation, trip cancellation, interruption or delay, and lost or delayed baggage.  Compare and choose what’s right for you. Try these comparison sites: insuremytrip.com or squaremouth.com.

What does “all-inclusive” actually include? Each ecotour itinerary has a list of what’s included and what’s not. Generally, all accommodations, transportation, entrance fees, guides, basic equipment, breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and hydration are included.  Dinners are on your own, except when camping.  Accommodations mean the hotel room and any complimentary services included in the basic pre-paid rate.  It does not include room service, pay-per-view, telephone fees, spa services, equipment rental, parking, etc. In the case of concierge camping, all-inclusive means you don’t need to lift a finger. Tents, lanterns, air mattresses, bedding and privacy toilets are set up for you. Transportation includes all transfers required for the tour itinerary. It does not include travel to or from Sarasota/Bradenton or transfer from the airport to the hotel.  Basic equipment includes the gear required for an activity. For example, a kayak, paddle and life jacket, or a bicycle, helmet and lock.

What if I live in the area and don’t need a hotel? For locals who want to enjoy these amazing experiences right in their own backyard, we offer a Commuter Package without the hotel (and breakfast).  Simply meet up each morning at the designated time and location.  Be sure to make your own arrangements for parking.

How do I get there? Sarasota-Bradenton is on the west coast of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico, located about mid-way down the Florida Peninsula.  See our Contact page for a general map. By car, there are several convenient exits off Interstate Highway 75.  By air, the closest destination is the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), which offers non-stop service to 10 airports. Tampa International Airport (TIA) is about an hour north; and Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is more than an hour south in Ft. Myers.   There are also two Regional Airports within an hour of Sarasota that offer non-stop service to many cities across the mid-west and northeast:  Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) and St Pete/Clearwater Airport (PIE). Taxi and shuttle services are available from each airport.
